COLD PREVENTION: Gin and bear it…

Those warm balmy days of the summer are just a distant memory and the first frosts of autumn not only heralding the colder days to come, but also bring with them the sound of sneezing, sniffing and coughing.  BUT there’s a solution to the alleviating all these symptoms and it comes in the form of carefully selected botanicals.  And these botanicals are conveniently packaged in a clear liquid called GIN!

These supper duper botanicals tend to be juniper berries, coriander seeds, cinnamon, Angelica root and seeds, almonds, lemon and orange peel, and are packed with powerful herbal benefits chiefly antioxidants and Vitamin C!  Perfect for staving off colds, flu and bugs of that sort.

Ever noticed that when you drink red wine or whisky you get a blocked nose?  That will be the histamine that is found in these type of alcoholic beverages, which can trigger allergies (i.e. blocked nose).  Gin, on the other hand, has lower levels of histamine than these other alcoholic beverages due to the distilling process, together with lower sulphites, and according to the British Asthma Association is a preferable drink for those that suffer with asthma.

So the next time you reach for the Bombay Sapphire and Fever Tree, remember it’s all in the name of cold prevention.

Until next time…
